NASCAR Racing: Daytona 500

After a historic 2009 and a short winter break, NASCAR makes its 2010 return with the season-opening Daytona 500 on Valentine’s Day. Already, its biggest stars have made their mark: Mark Martin picked up where he left off by starting on the pole. Dale Earnhardt Jr. got a jump on the season with the outside pole. And Jimmie Johnson, seeking an unprecedented fifth championship in a row, won his Gatorade Duel to start third.

But the weekend doesn’t belong solely to the 500. The Nationwide Series received a shot of star power when Danica Patrick decided to run the Camping World 300. Coming off a sixth place finish in an ARCA race, Danica starts 15th in her first NASCAR event.

The Motor Racing Network (MRN) kicks off 2010 with the Nationwide Series’ Camping World 300 by Chevrolet at 12:45 p.m. (EST) on Saturday. On Sunday, MRN presents live coverage of the Sprint Cup Series’ Daytona 500 at 12:00 p.m. (EST).

What’s in store for 2010? Will Johnson cement himself as one of the best of all time? Will Martin finally win a championship? Or, can Earnhardt Jr. finally reward the biggest fan base in NASCAR? Find out by following the 2010 NASCAR season with RadioTime’s NASCAR channel.
