“Smartphones revived the radio star”

rajarA compelling new study, conducted by RAJAR, a radio industry audience measurement system, finds that 1.4 million people have downloaded a radio app. It is also interesting to note that 13% of adults, ages 15 and over, have listened to radio on a mobile phone. Of those listeners, only 15% run station specific app, while the majority make their selection using a specific FM preset. Christel Lacaze, research manager of RAJAR, poignantly states, “with smarthpones fast growing their market share, a greater number of mobile phone owners are able to listen to the radio via their phone using a mobile internet connection rather than an FM signal, giving them access to richer content on the go.” View the complete survey and discover greater insight into the growing demand of mobile radio.
