Tech Thursday: Austin Bound with TuneIn

by Michael McGeary

While we in Silicon Valley are used to being the epicenter of all things techie, this week the focus shifts to the South by Southwest Festival in Austin, Texas. Every year, SXSW gathers the most forward-thinking developers and artists in technology (as well as music and film), for a week of panels, idea-sharing and good ol’ fashioned Texas-sized fun. We’ve got you covered here at TuneIn with our SXSW channel, which will bring you the highlights next week, but if you just can’t wait, here are some podcasts to get you ready for the big event.

SXSW Baby! has all the info you need to get prepared for the Interactive forum which stretched through this weekend, including what hot startups will be there, which apps you’ll need after the conference to stay relevant (other than TuneIn, of course), and all the comings and goings of the festival.

We once again point you to iPad Today as well, as Leo LaPorte has posted his latest podcast, not only about the imminent release of iPad 2 in stores tomorrow, but also the essential apps you’ll need to survive the SXSW experience.

But what makes SXSW truly special is the intersection of tech and art. Over at National Public Radio, Bob Boilen and friends at All Songs Considered has published its preview of SXSW artists to watch. Take a listen and get all the background on you need on new artists to discover.

Whatever you need to follow – or prepare for – Austin’s big week, TuneIn has you covered. Did we miss a feed or podcast you can’t live without? Let us know and drop us a comment on Facebook or Tweet at us!
