Today, we at TuneIn are proud to announce our partnership with the Carolina Mudcats, AA Southern League affiliate of the Cincinnati Reds based in Raleigh, North Carolina. Starting with their opening game tomorrow in Mobile, Alabama, Mudcat fans across the globe will be able to access exclusive gameday content and hear every pitch, swing and homer right here on TuneIn! The Mudcats are the first professional baseball team to make a TuneIn-specific stream available to complement their terrestrial broadcast.
“Fans who couldn’t attend the games relied on portable and car radios to hear the action, and today millions of Americans carrying a much better radio in their pocket or purse at all times – their smartphones,” said Joe Bourdow, Chairman, Play-by-Play Sports Properties, the broadcast partner of the Carolina Mudcats. “The decision to make our radio broadcasts available on a mobile app was an obvious one, and so was partnering with TuneIn Radio because of the large user base and the fact the app is available across such a wide variety of devices.”
“Baseball and radio have a long history together, and we believe this partnership will mark a significant milestone in that history,” said Bill Moore, founder, RadioTime. “Generations of baseball fans have followed their teams by listening to the great radio broadcasters like Vin Scully, Jack Buck and Curt Gowdy. We expect teams across all professional sports to follow the Mudcats’ lead.”
We’re thrilled to partner with the Mudcats this season, and look forward to listening to their games all season long. Make sure you’re following us on Twitter and Facebook and we’ll have some Mudcat prize packs to give away for Opening Day!
